Formula SAE is an annual competition run by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE). The competition challenges students to innovate, design, build and compete in small formula-style racing cars. Teams design cars within specifications of few safety constraints, which lead to enormous variance between race teams locally, and around the world. Formula SAE Australasia competition challenges over 20 universities from around the country and also tests the engineering capabilities of students travelling from overseas places such as
Students involved in Monash Formula SAE are exposed to real engineering problems, where they:
§ Enhance their learning by applying theory learnt from lectures to real-life problems and understanding first hand key fundamentals of engineering.
§ Meet new friends and open new doors to experiences and support exclusive to team members within and outside of the university.
§ Be exposed and learn practical skills such as machining, welding , computer aided design (CAD) and more.
§ Attend special functions and events reserved for F-SAE members
§ Have increased chances of employment as major engineering companies specifically seek SAE-involved students.
